Unlocking Climate Finance for a Sustainable Future in Lao PDR
on 20th Jan 2026, The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MAE) and FAO convened over 60 key stakeholders for a pivotal coordination meeting on the Green Climate Fund (GCF).
The gathering launched the development of a National Coordination Mechanism (Country Platform), designed to streamline how Lao PDR accesses and manages international climate finance. By identifying gaps and aligning donor activities, this platform aims to maximize resources for the country's most urgent climate priorities.
To achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 and supporting the ongoing revision of the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC 3.0).
Supported by the GCF Readiness Project, this initiative is a crucial step toward realizing the goals of the 10th National Socio-Economic Development Plan (2026–2030).
